Diagnostic and monitoring technologies

Master's thesis

I worked with the Microsensors and Bioelectronics Laboratory at Warwick University to develop a breath analysis device for scuba diving.

  • The aim of the device was to promote safety and wellbeing by tracking three relevant variables: volume of expired gas, breathing rate, and caloric expenditure.
  • This was a highly novel application, and the final design framework met all relevant crite

Fluorochrome

I designed a means of calibrating fluorescence microscopes for measurement of localised intracellular pH using a pH-sensitive protein.

  • Done during Entrepreneurship in Biomedical Engineering module of undergraduate degree.
  • Grade for the project ranked in the top band of results.

SensUs 2021

I participated in the 2021 edition of the international SensUs biosensor design competition. This year's target was the Influenza A virion (pictured).

  • I worked on the "Translational Potential" section of the final report. This proved to be Glasgow's highest-scoring component, and we came fourth out of fourteen teams worldwide.
